Owls Upset by Olympians in Regionals

No. 10 Ranked Citrus College Women's Soccer hosted No. 23 ranked San Diego Mesa in the first round of the 3C2A Women's Soccer SoCal Regional Championships last night, Wednesday, November 20th.

San Diego Mesa earned the 1-0 victory over Citrus College in a rematch from when the two teams met in early September. The Owls and Olympians battled in the first half, trading shots on goal and fighting for opportunities. SD Mesa took four shots in the first half compared to the Owls' three but neither team scored, and the score was 0-0 at halftime.

The intensity picked up in the second half as both teams ramped up their efforts to get shots on goal. The Owls were unable to find the back of the net on their four second half shots, although a few opportunities nearly missed. In the 86th minute the Olympians scored to go up 1-0 and played defensively to steal the win and advance to round two of regionals where they will face Ventura College this Saturday, November 23rd.

The Owls finish the 2024 season with a 14-4-2 overall record while going 10-3-1 in the Western State Conference-South as they look ahead to 2025 with hopes of returning to the postseason next fall.
