Valley Glen, CA -- On the first day of the 2013 Western State Conference Swimming Championships, it was freshmen Gabriela Debia and Chelsea Fujita Haffner who led the Owls in their first foray to post-season meets in a few years. Both represented the Owls in finals, and both earned valuable points for Citrus going forward.

Citrus started it's day off by competing in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay. The Owls' relay team, comprised of Kirsten Pampu, Lora Marquez-Salgado, Marianna Preciado, and Fujita-Haffner finished the race in a competitive time of 1:51.28. That was followed up by Debia's performance in the 500 Yard Free, where she finished with a time of 6:16.23 good enough to score and finish 15th overall.

Three events later, the Owls got more points on the board when Fujita-Haffner finished 10th overall in the 50 Yard Free. Fujita-Haffner posted a time of 26.22 seconds in the event. The day wrapped up for the Owls in the 400 Yard Medley Relay, where the same crew as earlier with Debia subbed in for Pampu finished with a time of 4:45.77.

The Owls will be back in the water tomorrow afternoon for day two of the three day event. The day kicks off at 10:00 AM with the Women's 200 Yard IM Prelims.
