Swim Finishes First Conference Meet at Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Swim team took part in its first official Western State Conference Meet of the 2014 season on Friday afternoon at Bakersfield College. The Owls showed some early season promise as they move forward.

Sophomore Chelsea Fujita-Haffner did her usual thing, taking third in a 100 Fly, coming in just behind two of the top female swimmers in the State. Fujita-Haffner posted a time of 1:06.02, shaving nearly eight-tenths of a second off of her early time at the Mt. San Antonio College Invite. Sophomore Kirsten Pampu had a big race in the 100 Free, posting a time of 1:03 flat, and taking 9th place overall. Freshman Lauren Quintero had her best race of the day in the 50 Free taking 9th (29.04), just edging sophomore teammate Mackenzie Shinall who came in 10th.

The Owls will be right back in the water this coming Friday when they take part in the WSC Meet #3 hosted by Los Angeles Pierce College. The first event is set to begin at 2:30 PM.
