2014 Season Comes to a Close at WSC Championships Final Day

Valley Glen, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Swim program's 2014 season came to a close on Saturday. The Owls finished up their season long campaign with a strong final showing on the third and final day of the 2014 Western State Conference Championships.

Sophomore Marissa Moreno got things going with a 16th place finish in the grueling 1650 Free (22:24.26). Freshman Kimberly Torres followed that performance up with a 13th place finish in the 100 Back (1:11.41). Sophomore Kirsten Pampu rounded out her solid individual performance this weekend, by taking 15th in the 100 Free (59.86).

After taking 4th in the 50 Fly, sophomore Chelsea Fujita-Haffner took 5th in the 100 Fly (1:05.26). Freshman Karla Ruiz also finished in the Top 16 in that event, taking 14th (1:18.71). The Owls closed out the weekend in the 400 Free Relay, nabbing 8th place (4:07.84) on the backs of Pampu, Moreno, Fujita-Haffner, and freshman Lauren Quintero.

On the whole, the Owls had their largest point earning day of the weekend on Saturday, amassing 45 points. On the weekend, Citrus finished with 122 total points.
