Owls Face Stiff Competition in WSC #2

Santa Barbara, CA - The Citrus College Women's Swim team headed up the North and up the coast over the weekend to take part in the second WSC double-dual meet of the season. The Owls faced some stiff competition in battling College of the Canyons, Los Angeles Pierce College, Cuesta College and the day's host Santa Barbara City College.

The Owls' first significant individual point total would come from sophomore Carly Casillas in the 1000 Free. Casillas finished the 20 lap event in a time of 13:07.84, good enough for fourth place. Citrus wouldn't be able to claim in points in the 200 or 50 Free Events, but finally got back on the board in the 200 IM thanks to a 5th place finish by sophomore Delaney Moller (2:49.03).

In the 100 Fly it was sophomore Katelyn Rivas who brought home four points with a 4th place finish (1:17.41). It would be three more events, before Citrus got any more points when Casillas came in the 6th place (6:25.53) in the 500 Free.

Moller would come through again for the Owls in the 100 Breast, finishing in 6th place overall (1:23.09). The Owls would then close out the meet program in the 400 Free Relay when Rivas, Moller, freshman Gabriella Galbraith, and freshman Sabrina Fregoso came in fourth place with a time of 4:25.39.

Citrus would tally up 31 total points on the day, coming in fifth place out of the five participating teams. The Owls were basically within striking distance of every school, except for the host Vaqueros who ran way with the event with a total of 179 points.

The Owls will take another two week break from action before taking part in the final WSC double-dual of the 2016 season. Los Angeles Valley College is set to host the event on Friday April 1st at 10:30 AM with College of the Canyons, Los Angeles Pierce College, and Santa Monica College also set to attend.
