Owls Finish 5th at Chaffey Invite

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The Citrus College Women's Swim team had an outstanding weekend at the 2017 Chaffey Invitational. The Owls had numerous Top 10 finishes and finished in 5th place out of the 10 competing teams.

Freshmen Chloe Barrocas, Jessica Carmody, Megan Card, and Hunter Olivier, got things off to a strong start when they teamed up in the 200 Free Relay and finished in fourth place with a time of 1:49.03. Olivier would follow that up with a 10th place finish in the highly competitive 50 Free, posting a time of 26.87. The four individuals would team up again in the 800 Free Relay, finishing in fourth place with a time of 8:48.68.

After that it was time for the 200 Medley Relay, where Card, Carmody, and Olivier, teamed up with sophomore Marisa Kasnetsis to nab fifth place with a time of 2:07.61. Kasnetsis would keep that momentum going into the 100 Fly, finishing in 10th place with a time of 1:09.67. In the 200 Free Barrocas took 4th place (2:07.50) and Olivier came in 7th (2:10.10). The Owls had a pair of Top 10 finishes in the 100 Back as well as Card placed 5th (1:08.07) and freshman Clarissa Romero came in 7th (1:09.95).

In the 400 Free Relay, the original four swimmers got back together and came in 4th place with a time of 3:57.96. Freshman Victoria Pena 4th for the Owls in the 1650 Free, posting a time of 20:51.87. Olivier followed that up with a 9th place finish in the 100 Free (58.44), while Carmody posted an 8th place finish in the 200 Breast with a time of 3:04.82. Rounding out the Top 10 showings were Card and Romero once again as they finished 5th (2:28.40) and 7th (2:30.80) respectively in the 200 Back.

The Owls will resume conference action next Friday when they participate in the WSC #2 Event hosted by LA Pierce College at Los Angeles Valley College. First swim is scheduled for an 11:00 AM start.
