Owls Win Five-Set Battle

Citrus College battled for its first Western State Conference victory, taking down Glendale College in five sets on Friday (24-26, 25-19, 17-25, 25-20, 15-12).

The Owls improve to 5-10 overall and 1-1 in conference with the win, while the Vaqueros drop to 3-11, 1-1.

Caren Stone had a stellar night with 19 kills and 17 digs for a double-double. Miah Soriano, Kalin Greene, and Gabriella Aguilar each added 10 kills, while Mychaela Ortiz posted 25 digs in the match. Vanessa Marquez finished with 52 assists to fuel the Owl offense.

It was back-and-forth action in the match as each team took a set after the other to force a fifth set. The Owls saved their best for last, only committing two errors to hit at a .250 clip and win the fifth 15-12.

Citrus looks to build on the momentum from its first conference win as it returns home to host West LA next Friday at 6 p.m. in the Owls' Nest.
