The Women's Water Polo team are now riding a 4 game-winning streak as their recent opponent fell to the Owls in a game where Citrus dominated the entire match. The Owls improved their overall season record to 9-6, but most importantly enhanced their Conference record to 5-1. Citrus is on top of the Western State Conference, and will seek more wins following their 13-5 victory over the Ventura College Pirates.

The Owls approached the game against the Pirates with a defensive mindset. Their defensive schemes proved to be unstoppable, as Citrus got off to a fast start with two early goals off of two turnovers. The Pirates responded with a goal of their own, but the Owls' solid defensive front led Citrus to an additional 3 goals in the first quarter. The Owls defense kept their momentum in the second quarter of the game, as they made their presence even bigger. Citrus defensively accomplished to make it seem as if the Pirates offense was non-existent in the second quarter. The Owls' defense made Ventura's offense shoot uncomfortable shots, make unwanted passes, and even managed to get the Pirate's to violate the shot clock a couple of times through great defensive pressure. Citrus along with Ventura, both scored two goals in the third quarter, which gave off the impression of a stalemate quarter. It was in the fourth quarter that the Owl's had secured the game with a one on one save off a breakaway by Citrus goalie Noel Paz, who had 9 saves on 14 shots and 2 steals on the day. Harvesting the fruit of great defensive play, the offense got rolling for the Owls throughout the game. With a superb 7 goals, 4 steals, and 1 drawn exclusion, Jessica Carmody played a big role in paving the way for Citrus. Delaney Geppart contributed greatly as well, as she made the most of her 6 shots by scoring 4. Geppart also assisted on 3 goals and drew 1 exclusion. Consistent play has been key for the Owls and has yet to fail them.

Citrus will look to finish their Conference play off strong at home, as their final Conference game will be at home against a struggling Allan Hancock College. With both the defense creating turnovers and making stops and the offensive capitalizing on their opportunities, it will be difficult for the Owls to be topped.
