PR’s All Over for Owls at Golden West Invite

Huntington Beach, CA (Cross Country) -- The Citrus College Men's and Women's Cross Country team had one of their best weekends of the year at the Golden West Invitational on Friday. The Owls posted seven personal records on the day, including six on the women's side.

The women would take 12th out of the 16 competing teams on Friday. Freshman Marily Meza continued to be the Owls' top runner placing 63rd with a time of 22:06. Sophomore Lovella Perea finished just behind her in 69th with a time of 22:21, while freshman Julia Galvez took 86th with a time of 23:09.

The Owls' personal marks would come at the bottom of the line-up as Rita Torres, Adrienne Morales-Taite, Zhihui Shen, Myrchalyn Alarcio, Nadine Raymond, and Melissa Morales-Taite all had their best times of the year.

On the men's side, it was freshman Gregory Castro who crossed the finish line first. Castro took 122nd place with a time of 24:56, and was followed by freshman Wesley Ewart who took 124th with a time of 25:01. Freshman Michael Tejada rounded out the top finishes with a 131st place finish and a personal best time of 25:39.

The Owls will be back out on the course next Friday when they take part in the Foothill Invitational. Race time is set for 11:00 AM at Guasti Regional Park in Ontario.
