Women are 9th and Men 12th at WSC Preview

Bakersfield, CA - The Citrus College Women's and Men's Cross Country program's went toe to toe with the rest of the Western State Conference on Friday afternoon in the WSC Preview hosted by Bakersfield College. While the Owls didn't finish in the top half on either side they did have some positives in the race at Kern County Soccer Park. 

 Freshman Marissa Montoya turned in a solid race for the Owls on the day, finishing in 26th place in a time of 20:55.4. Freshman Marlene Romero was steps behind her, coming in 37th place with a time of 21:45.4. After Romero it was freshmen Giselle Vargas (55th | 23:23.3), Chien-Ju "Alice" Lin (62nd | 24:32.8), and Brianda Reyes Martinez (65th | 24:48.2). The Owls posted an average time of 23:04 and a total of 211 points, just edging Santa Monica College by one point and not too far behind seventh and eighth place Bakersfield and Oxnard Colleges.

For the men, freshman Alberto Dolores continued his strong freshman campaign with a 36th place individual finish and a time of 22:50.4. Freshman Eric Perez was the next Owl to break the tape with a 64th place finish and time of 23:58.3. After that it was sophomore Julian Ramirez (77th | 24:48.1), freshman Jose Mora (80th | 24:56.3), and sophomore Damian Cabrera Lepe (93rd | 26:02.3). The Owls finished with an average time of 24:31.

Citrus will be back out on the course this weekend when they participate in the 2016 San Bernardino Valley College Invitational at the San Bernardino Soccer Complex. The first race is set for a 10:00 AM start.
