Citrus Makes More Improvements at SoCal Preview

Citrus College previewed the site of the SoCal Regional Championships in November on a gloomy Friday morning and once again saw lots of improvements.

Ryleigh Larue took more time off her 5K time and grabbed another top-20 finish to lead the Owl women, finishing in a career-best 19:33.2 – 40 seconds faster than last week's race. Blanca Madrid posted a time of 24:53.6, while Evelin Mendez crossed the finish line in 26:30.7 – a full minute better than her time last week – and Lucy Zurita wasn't far behind at 26:26.4. Talia Saldana rounded out Citrus' five with a time of 32:04.7.

Geo Cabello led the men with a time of 23:17.4, shaving almost 40 seconds off his previous best time. Aaron Zamarron kept the improvements going and finished in 25:54.1, while Christopher Duran clocked in at 26:01.5 and Adonai Lopez followed in 26:13.1. All three Owls shaved at least a minute off their time from the previous week, with Lopez clocking in more than two minutes faster. Louis Amador rounded out the top-five Owls with a time of 27:11.1 – four full minutes quicker than last week.

Citrus looks to keep making improvement strides as it heads to the Golden West Central Park Classic next week.
