Baseball Season Ends With Owls Getting Swept by Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA – The 2016 Citrus College Baseball season came to a close on Friday afternoon in disappointing fashion when the Owls weren’t able to avoid a sweep by host Bakersfield College. Citrus gave it a run, but the Renegades walked them off in a 4-3 victory.

Bakersfield Overcomes Owls Again

April 29, 2016

Glendora, CA – In their final home game of their 2016 campaign, the Citrus College Baseball team was overcome by Bakersfield College in the final half of the game for the second straight contests. The Renegades scored three runs between the 6th and 9th innings to defeat Citrus 5-2.

Freshman Joshua Aguilar was the only Owl pitcher to escape unscathed in Citrus' loss at Bakersfield.

Bakersfield, CA - The Citrus College Baseball team dropped their series opener with Bakersfield College on Tuesday falling 5-3. The Owls committed four errors and had just three hits in the game.

Glendora, CA - For just the second time this season, the Citrus College Baseball team put together a sweep of an opponent in Western State Conference South Division play. The Owls held off a late rally by visiting West Los Angeles College in a 3-2 win.

Citrus Wins Scorefest at West LA

Culver City, CA - After the two teams managed to score just five total runs in Tuesday afternoon’s WSC South meeting, both the Citrus College and West Los Angeles offenses easily doubled that total on their own. The Owls would come out on top in Thursday’s scorefest 16-11.

Owls End Slide with Win Over West LA

Glendora, CA - The results hung in the balance for much of the game, but the Citrus College Baseball team was finally able to stop their six game slide on Tuesday afternoon when they hosted visiting West Los Angeles College in WSC South action. The Owls broke the losing streak via unconventional means, scoring three runs in the bottom of the eighth, none via a hit or error in a 4-1 victory.

Slog Continues for Baseball

Sylmar, CA - The slog that is the Citrus College Baseball team’s current six game losing streak continued over the weekend when Los Angeles Mission College wrapped up a sweep of the Owls with a 5-2 win over Citrus. Freshman Roberto Baldanebro pitched a complete game in a losing effort for Citrus.

Early Mistakes Haunt Owls Late

April 15, 2016

Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Baseball team gave up five runs over the first two innings, an early mistake that came back to haunt the Owls late. Citrus’ offense didn’t get going until the final half of the game when they outscored visiting LA Mission College 5-3 in the final four innings, but it was too late in a 8-5 loss.

Baca's Bombs Aren't Enough at Mission

Sylmar, CA - For the third time this season, the Citrus College Baseball team had a player hit two home runs in a single contest and drive in a total of seven RBIs, but for the first time it came in a losing effort. Freshman Dominic Baca was 3 for 5 with a pair of runs, and those seven RBIs, in Citrus' 9-8 loss to LA Mission.

Owls Get Swept by Vaqueros

April 12, 2016

Glendale, CA - Four days after they were supposed to get the game in, the Citrus College Baseball team finally were able to finish their three game conference set with Glendale College on Monday afternoon at Verdugo Park in Glendale. The Owls recently struggles continued as Glendale completed the sweep of Citrus with a 12-5 win.

Rained On Their Parade

Glendora, CA - For the first time in at least a decade, the Citrus College Baseball team was forced to sit through a rain delay on their home field, when the Owls waited nearly two outs to play the final four outs of their WSC South contest with Glendale College on Saturday afternoon. The rain wasn’t the only thing dampening the day though, as the Vaqueros rained on their parade and handed the Owls their seventh loss in their last eight games.

Owls Can't Sustain Early Lead in Loss to Glendale

Glendora, CA - Midway through Tuesday afternoon's Western State Conference South Division contest with SoCal #5 Glendale College, the Citrus College Baseball team was in a primo position, holding a 4-2 lead through four innings. The Owls couldn't sustain the early lead though as the Vaqueros rallied with five runs in the fifth and sixth innings to defeat Citrus 7-4.

Sophomore Joseph Morreale made his first appearance in the field for the Owls in 2016 and went 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs.
Owls Avoid Sweep and Stop Five Game Slide

Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Baseball team avoided a season series sweep at the hands of Los Angeles Valley College on Saturday afternoon with their 6-4 win over the Monarchs. In the process, the Owls were also to finally stop a five game slide that nearly dragged across three weeks.

Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Baseball team’s recent struggles over the last week and a half continued on Tuesday afternoon when they hosted Los Angeles Valley College in WSC South action. The Owls recorded 10 hits, but again where held to very few runs in a 12-1 loss.

Nothing Good to Take

Glendora, CA - When the Citrus College Baseball team took on visiting Mt. San Antonio College in the final game of their 2016 conference spring break, the Owls got nothing good to take. The Owls struck out eight times and had a season low three hits in a 10-2 loss.
