Ventura, CA - The Citrus College Baseball team had their five game win streak snapped on Sunday afternoon when they headed to Ventura College for a make-up game of an earlier rained out date. With their regular rotation on the shelf thanks to WSC East play being in full swing, the Owls were bombed by the Pirates 9-1.

For a brief moment, the Owls looked like they would have a chance to keep their recent momentum going, when freshman Kristian Scott opened up the top of the first with a scarfice fly to center field that plated sophomore Marcos Campos and gave Citrus an early 1-0 lead. The lead wouldn't last past the inning as Ventura scored three in the bottom half and never looked back.

Ventura controlled the game for the rest of the way, allowing just seven total hits by the Owls and no more runs. Making matters worse, the Owls struck out 11 times on the afternoon, their worst showing at the plate this season. Freshman Donovyn Curiel was the only player to register more than one hit, going 2 for 4, and drew one of Citrus' three total walks on the afternoon.

With the loss, Citrus drops to 10-8-1 overall. The Owls will resume WSC East play on Tuesday when they travel to Victor Valley College for a 2:30 PM showdown with their new conference foe.
