Diamond Owls Notch Conference Win at Home

Citrus Baseball hosted Western State Conference East rival Victor Valley College on Tuesday in what was the two teams' second meeting of the 2019 season. The Owls beat the Rams 7-2 back on March 7th, and repeated the feat again Tuesday in a 6-2 victory. The win moved the Owls to 8-12-1 overall and a 4-2 conference mark.

Enrique Zaldivar got the start on the mound for the Owls and pitched 6.2 scoreless innings, striking out 5 and earning his 4th win of the season. His record now stands at 4-2 in 2019. 

On the offensive side, the Owls hit over .300 as a team. Several players had standout games at the plate. Kanta Kobayashi went 3 for 4 scoring 2 runs, driving a run in and stealing a base; Thomas Chavez went 3 for 4, including a double, scored a run and stole a bag. Teppei Fukuda notched a pair of hits, one of which was a double that drove in 2 runs, and the other a 2 run shot that scored Kobayashi. Grant Woodward also doubled, driving in a run and scoring. Thomas Aceituno notched pair of base hits in the effort.

Citrus currently resides in the #2 spot in the Western State Conference East behind 4-1 Glendale. The Owls take the field again on Thursday when they travel to Victor Valley for a 2:30 PM start.
