Riverside, CA -- While the 2014 Citrus College Football season didn't quite shake out as the Owls would have hoped, they always made things tough on their opponents. That was true again on Saturday night as they gave SoCal and State #1 Riverside City College all they could handle in a 14-20 loss.

The Owls got on the board first, Saturday night, when sophomore quarterback Larry Cutbirth capped off a eight play, 79 yard drive, with a one yard touchdown run with 4:52 left in the first quarter. Riverside would answer early in the second quarter with a one yard touchdown run of their own, and then a 32 yard field goal a little more than six minutes of game time later, but the Owls had their own answer before the end of the first half. Cutbirth hooked up with freshman Patrick Smith for a 48 yard touchdown pass that gave the Owls a 14-10 lead at the break.

In the second half, Citrus managed to move the ball into Riverside territory just three times. The Tigers meanwhile used a late third quarter touchdown run and a field goal early in the fourth quarter to take over and extend their lead, a lead the Owls never managed to overcome.

In the loss both Smith and sophomore Errol Romney recorded over 100 yards receiving, as Smith hauled in seven catches for 106 yards and Romney five for 120. On the defensive side of the ball sophomore Dorrin Turner matched a game high eight tackles, including a hurry and a half tackle for a loss.

With the loss, Citrus' season comes to an end with a 3-7 record.
