San Diego, CA -- For the first time in quite some time, the Citrus College Men's Basketball team has found themselves in uncharted territory. After dropping their first game of the season last Friday at El Camino, the Owls were handed their second straight loss when SoCal #2 Mt. San Jacinto defeated Citrus 90-81 in the opening round of the Knights Invitational hosted by San Diego City College.

The Eagles jumped out on the Owls early, scoring 14 of the first 16 points of the contest. Citrus never really rallied from the hole. Mt. San Jacinto would extend their lead to as much as 19 points before settling in for a 15 points 45-30 lead at the break.

Mt. San Jacinto extended their lead to as much as 21 points with just over nine minutes to play. The Owls get the lead down to seven points with a little of three minutes to go, but the Eagles quickly nipped that with eight straight points en route to their nine point victory.

On the game, the Owls shot just 37.3% from the field and were pounded on the glass 47-35. Sophomore Kerry Carter led the way with a team high 23 points. Freshman Terrell Todd came off the bench and poured in 23 points as well, while sophomore Brent Watkins came off the bench to grab a team high seven rebounds in 10 minutes of work.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 0-2. The Owls will look to finally get things on track today in the consolation round of the Knight's Invitational against Grossmont College. With the loss, it'll be the first time Citrus hasn't won the Knight's Invitational in six seasons.
