Glendora, CA -- After yesterday's slow start against Orange Coast College in the opening day of the 2013 Neil Edwards Classic, the Citrus College Men's Basketball team bounced back on Saturday afternoon with a good win against a solid Sierra College team. The Owls put together a strong defensive showing and did enough on offense to garner the 67-56 win.

Sierra scored the first couple of points in the game but it was tight throughout the first half. The score was tied up three times, and the lead changed hands twice in the first ten minutes alone. The Wolverines led for most of the first half, but the Owls took the lead for good with 1:41 to go when sophomore Therique Card found freshman Jordan Jefferson on the win for a three that made it 28-26 Citrus. Sophomore Daniel Cheek would hit a pair of free-throws with 1:09 to go put Citrus up 32-27 at the half.

It was all Citrus the rest of the way. The Owls' lead would grow to as much as seven points four different times in the first three-quarters of the second, still each time Sierra kept it close. The Wolverines even tied the game up at 54-54 with 5:24, but the Owls scoring 13 of the final 15 points of the game to settle in for the 11 point win.

In the win, freshman Chris Reyes notched another double-double with a game high 22 points and a game high 14 rebounds. He also blocked seven shots, breaking the record for most blocked shots in a single game for the second straight night. Cheek added 13, while Jefferson had seven and four steals.

With the win, Citrus improves to 4-1 on the young year. The Owls will be back at home on Sunday night as they close out the 2013 Neil Edwards Classic against SoCal #10 Chaffey College. Tip-off is set for 6:00 PM.
