Glendale, CA — The Citrus College Men's Basketball team hit the road for their first away Western State Conference South Division match-up of the season on Saturday afternoon when they travelled to State #15 Glendale College. The Owls got it done on the defensive end holding the Vaqueros to just 28.3% shooting from the floor, upending the Vaqueros 73-55.

Citrus had a good start from the jump, scoring 8 of the first 10 points. The Vaqueros answered back with a run of their own to briefly take the lead back with 13:47 to go, but the Owls took the lead back thanks to a jumper from sophomore Daniel Cheek at the 11:14 mark and never gave it back.

The Owls' biggest lead of the first half would be 11, as freshman Shaquille Barker hit a lay-up with four seconds left in the first period to make it 33-22 headed into halftime. Citrus opened up the second half with seven of the first ten points, and never really got a viable threat from Glendale. The Vaqueros pulled to within 10 with 9:17 to go in the game, but freshman Jordan Jefferson completed a three point play and the lead remained comfortable for Citrus.

Cheek led the way for Citrus in the win with a game high 19 points, hitting five three's and grabbing four rebounds. Freshman Chris Reyes scored 15, had a team high 11 rebounds, and blocked five shots, while freshman Justin Childress added 11, five boards, five assists, and three steals.

With the win, Citrus improves to 9-4 on the year and 2-0 in WSC South play. The Owls will be on the road again on Wednesday when they head North to take on Bakersfield College. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
