Bakersfield, CA  — If you look at the box score from Wednesday night's Western State Conference South Division contest between Citrus College and Bakersfield College, you'd probably wonder how the game got that out of hand. The Owls weren't out rebounded by double digits and they had fewer turnovers than their opponent. It was just one of those night's for the Owls though as they shot just 39.6% from the floor and hit just three of their eleven attempts from three in a 74-57 loss to the Renegades.

Citrus struggles started in the first half, where after scoring the game's first basket they fell behind and never recovered. The Owls were 9 of 22 from the floor in the first half compared to a 16 of 33 effort by the Renegades. That resulted in a nine point 34-25 deficit for the Owls at the break. Things didn't get any better in the second half. Citrus then went 10 of 26 from the floor and watched as Bakersfield shot 47.4% from the floor and got to the line 27 times where they hit 20 free-throws.

In the loss, Citrus was led by freshman Chris Reyes. Reyes scored a team high 21 points to go with six rebounds and nine blocks. With the loss, Citrus falls to 9-5 overall and 2-1 in WSC South play. The Owls will be back home on Saturday when they get a tall task, as they host State #4 and SoCal #2 Antelope Valley College (17-3, 2-0) for a 5:00 PM tip.
