Owls Earn Redemption and Clinch Chaffey Tournament

The taste of redemption is fresh on the tongues of the Citrus Men's Basketball team after a 77-73 win over Chaffey College last night. Citrus had previously lost only its third game of the season to the Panthers in the finals of the Compton Tartar Classic in December. The win cemented Citrus as the top team on the foothill corridor and will likely catapult the Owls into conference play with a a spring in its step.

Sophomore Point Guard Jeremy Smith did his thing as usual for the Fighting Owls when he dropped 25 points on the night. Smith, who earned tournament MVP honors, dropped a cool 41 points in Wednesday's win over West LA, breaking the all time record at Citrus for points scored in a single game, a record which previously belonged to Tron Smith (2005-2006 season vs Santa Ana).

In the win against Chaffey, Citrus also got big numbers from big man Quintin Bailey who tied his season high of 17 points, and Miles Crawford who dropped 15 points and chipped in 4 rebounds.

The Owls have a week off and will return to the hardcourt next Saturday at home vs LA Valley to kick off conference play. Tipoff is at 5:00 PM.
