After a low-scoring first half, Citrus College came alive in the second to run away with an 87-72 victory over the College of the Canyons.
The Owls improve to 20-6 overall and 11-2 in Western State Conference-South action. The Cougars drop to 14-11, 6-7.
Anthony Tello led the Owls with 24 points off the bench, going 9-for-13 from the floor. Chris Harper added 16 points on impressive 7-of-9 shooting, while Leonard Turner posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Tied at 12-12, Tello sparked a 6-0 spurt to force a Cougar timeout. Canyons battled back to take the lead, 19-18, but the Owls closed out the half strong to hold a 34-26 lead at the break.
The Owls took a double-digit lead just over halfway through the second off a Lance Rodrigues free throw and never looked back despite Canyons' efforts to try to stay in the game.
Endigo Coleman put an exclamation point on the victory with less than a minute on the clock, dunking a Chris Chiles assist to seal the 87-72 win.
Citrus closes out the regular season on Wednesday, hosting Antelope Valley at 5 p.m. before playoffs begin.
