Furukawa Advances to SoCals

Pasadena, CA -- Citrus College freshman Takakazu Furukawa has advanced to the California Community College Southern California Men's Golf Championships next weekend, thanks to his performance at Monday's 2014 Western State Conference Championships. Furukawa paced the Owls with a two round total of 151, finishing 16th overall as an individual.

Furukawa opened up the two round tournament with a blazing one over par 73. Later in the day he followed that up with a 78, to post the best two round total by an Owl by four strokes. Sophomore Matt Nolan was just behind him going 80 and rebounding with a 75, for a two round total of 155. Sophomores Joshua Davis and Homerson So each posted scores of 157, while freshman Joshua Herman rounded out the scoring with a pair of 80's.

As a team, Citrus shot a 388 in the first round and 392 in the second round for a total of 780. That placed the Owls sixth out of eight competing teams, edging 7th place Bakersfield, by a single stroke, and 8th place Antelope Valley by four strokes.

Furuakawa will participate in next week's SoCal Championships which will be held in Poway, CA at the StoneRidge Country Club.
