Valencia, CA -- The Citrus College Men's Golf team kicked off their 2015 Western State Conference slate on Monday in the WSC Event hosted by College of the Canyons. The Owls finished in seventh place as a team, but freshman Samuel Mangiaterra had a strong outing with a round of 75.

Mangiaterra would be the leader in the clubhouse for the Owls, finishing in a three-way tie for the seventh best individual round of the day. The lowest round of the day was a 71, but Mangiaterra finished within three strokes of five other players.

Behind Mangiatera was freshman Tyler Bliss who fired a 79. Freshman James Bragger had the third lowest round of the day for the Owls, with an 84, while freshman Tyler Hoefferle and sophomore Justin Hung rounded out the scoring rounds with an 85 and 87 respectively.

As a team, the Owls shot a combined 410 matching sixth place Bakersfield. Unfortunately for Citrus, they lost on a card off and had to settle for second to last place on the day.

The Owls will be back out on the links this coming Monday when they take part in the WSC Santa Barbara Event. Tee-time is set for 10:00 AM at Alisal Ranch Golf Course in Solvang.
