Santa Maria, CA -- After two straight weeks of finishing in sixth place or below, the Citrus College Men's Golf team moved up to fifth at the WSC Event hosted by Allan Hancock College. The Owls shot a combined 385, winning a card-off with Glendale College and finishing just one stroke behind fourth place Antelope Valley College.

Freshman Samuel Mangiaterra led the charge for the Owls with a one under par 71. The round of 71 was tied for the third lowest round individually on the day for his highest individual finish of the season. After that it was a trio of 78's as freshmen James Bragger and Tyler Bliss along with Justin Hung all came into the clubhouse with the same score. Sophomore John Gaynor just edged teammate Cody Cragg for the fifth spot with a round of 80.

In what was arguably the most tightly contested match of the season, just four strokes separated third place Ventura College (382) from seventh place Allan Hancock College (386).

The Owls will return to the links on Monday April 6th when they host the rest of the Western State Conference at San Dimas Canyon Golf Course.
