Owls Hang With SoCals Best at SoCal Preview/WSC Neutral Event

Oceanside, CA - The Citrus College Men's Golf team participated in the Southern California Preview on Monday afternoon at El Camino Country Club, site of the 2017 Southern California Championships. The Owls hung with the SoCals best finishing in 7th place overall, but the Owls also fared well in the conference portion of the event as the match served as the WSC Neutral site, where Citrus finished in 3rd place.

Sophomore James Bragger continued his assault on the links, firing a 74. It was good enough for the second lowest individual WSC round of the day, and the 5th lowest out of any of the nearly 100 competitors on the afternoon. Freshman Joshua Strong got back on track with a 76, good for 5th in the WSC standings and 11th overall.

Freshman Aaron Coiner posted another solid round, carding a 78, while sophomore Justin Orona and freshman Gabriel Sosa rounded out the scoring rounds with an 80 and 86 respectively. As a team, Citrus shot a combined 394, finishing just three strokes back of second place Santa Barbara City College and six strokes in front of fourth place College of the Canyons. In the overall SoCal Preview, Citrus finished 7th out of the 19 teams, edging 8th place College of the Desert by two strokes.

The Owls will be back to exclusive conference play on Monday March 27th when they take part in the WSC Event hosted by Santa Barbara City College. Tee-time is set for 10:00 AM.
