Citrus Keeps Improving

As the season starts to wind down, Citrus College keeps improving and took fifth as a team on its home course Monday with its lowest score of the season. The Owls shaved 15 strokes off their previous-best score (395), posting a team score of 384, which was just five strokes off third place.

Cortez Herrera led the Owls for the second-straight week, carding an even-par 72 to match his season-best score and put him tied for sixth overall. It moved him into the top-10 scoring averages with a 75.00 on the year.

John Dearth – who sits in third in the player standings with a 73.60 average – was one stroke off his teammate with a one-over 73 (tied for 11th), while Kerry Valenzuela and Devin Mount each carded 76s. Matt Ramirez rounded out the scoring Owls with an 87.

The Owls head to Bakersfield for the Rig City Invitational next Monday.
