Win Slips Through the Hands of Men’s Soccer

What was a dream start for the Men's Soccer team this past Friday, quickly turned into an unpleasant ending for the Owls in a 3-2 loss against the Allan Hancock College Bulldogs. Citrus got the game started first and went straight to work as they scored two goals in the 3rd and 24th minute of the first half. Both goals were scored by Sergio Gonzalez and assisted by Patrick Luevano, putting the Owls up 2-0. The duo proved to be an unstoppable force throughout the first 45 minutes.

But as great as the game seemed for the Owls up to that point, everything that needed to go right for Bulldogs, did. Responding quickly to the second Citrus goal, the Bulldogs reciprocated with a goal in the 25th minute. Along with the scoreboard, the momentum of the game began to switch over in favor of the Bulldogs. Allan Hancock ended the first half with the game flow on their side, and proved itself a worthy opponent in the second half with an additional two goals to put them up 3-2. Fatigue seemed to be the culprit of the decline of Citrus as the match went on, as they let go of 2-0 lead en route to the loss.

The Owls' record falls to 2-4-3, but will attempt to turn their season around in their game versus the Antelope Valley College Marauders next Tuesday the 10th, which happens to be their first Conference match of the season.
