Men's Soccer Lands 12 All Conference Awards, Gonzalez is Conference MVP

Conference Champion Citrus College Men's Soccer has landed 12 of it's players on the Western State Conference South Division All Conference Teams. 

Heading the list of awardees is Conference Player of the Year Sergio Gonzalez and five 1st Team selections. The Fighting Owls also celebrate four 2nd Team selections and 2 Honorable Mentions to round out the list of recognized student athletes.

WSC South Division Conference Player of the Year:

Sergio Gonzalez

Freshman Midfielder Gonzalez leads the charge of Citrus players selected to All Conference Teams in 2017 with Player of the Year accolades. Gonzalez ranked 4th in all of the WSC in shots, with 42 on the season. He also chipped in 5 assists for a total of 19 points. Gonzalez appeared in 19 matches for the Owls, starting in 15 of those contests. Lastly, Gonzalez ranked 2nd on the Citrus squad in goals with 7. Coach Fred Bruce-Oliver will no doubt look to Gonzalez to lead next year's team of returners and Freshmen, as the team will seek to repeat this year's Conference Championship

1st Team All WSC South Division:

Ramon Gutierrez, Midfielder

Gutierrez appeared in 35 matches in his career at Citrus, starting in 33 of those contests. Gutierrez scored 2 goals in 2017, with a Shot on Goal percentage of .478. He ranked 5th in the entire WSC in 2017 in Assists with 7. 

Jorge Quinones, Goalkeeper

Quinones ends the 2017 campaign ranked 3rd out of all WSC Goalkeepers in Goals Against Average with 1.02, and Save Percentage with .797. Quinones was also 2nd in conference play with 5 wins.

Joel Rosales, Forward

Rosales wraps up his Citrus career with a whopping 14 career goals, 9 of which came in the 2017 season. Rosales also racked up a .633 Shot On Goal Percentage and led the Citrus team in Starts with 18, and goals with 9. 

Noel Rosales, Defender

Rosales, although a defender, knocked in 4 goals on the season, and had an impeccable .833 Shot on Goal Percentage to lead the entire Owls team. Rosales appeared in 20 matches during his tenure at Citrus.

Eduardo Contreras-Herrera, Midfielder

Freshman Midfielder Contreras-Herrera appeared in 14 matches in 2017 for the Owls. He capitalized on 2 out of his 3 shots on goal, racking up 4 total points on the season.
