Citrus Men's Soccer hosted Norco College on Tuesday for a Southern California Regional matchup between the two teams. The visitors would prevail by a score of 4-1.
Citrus struck first in the 19th minute when Imer Figueroa went down in the Norco box and earned himself a penalty kick. The sophomore midfielder capitalized on the opportunity, putting the ball in the back of the net and opening a 1-0 lead, the Owls' first in 2019. But Norco would fight, returning the favor in the 27th minute on a penalty kick of their own. The score would remain tied until expired time the first half when the Mustangs pieced together two more goals, taking the 3-1 lead into halftime.
Norco would expand its lead further in the 2nd half, in the 64th minute, when their 4th goal found the back of the net. The Owls would put up a respectable fight to close the match, but the 4-1 deficit was too much to overcome.
The loss puts the Owls at 0-2 in 2019. Citrus will take the field again on Friday at home vs Chaffey. Kickoff is at 1:00 PM in the stadium.
