Owls Come Out Swinging Against Rams

Citrus Softball played a Western State Conference East game on Tuesday at the Citrus College Softball Complex. The Owls hosted Victor Valley and beat the Rams in a 5 inning mercy rule game, 14-2. 

Citrus came out of the gates on fire, piecing together a monster of a 2nd inning that scored 11 runs, the highest scoring inning of the year for the Owls. Citrus would add 3 more runs in the 3rd and hold off the visitors on defense to secure the win.

Giavanna Muenz got the start in the circle for the Owls, pitching a complete game and grabbing her 3rd win of the year. Muenz also led the way for the Owls on the offensive end, going 2 for 3 with a single and a double, scoring 2 runs and knocking in 2 RBI's. Becky Winder went 1 for 3, scoring 3 runs and driving in 1. Katie Kempton chipped in a double, driving in 2 runs and scoring a run. Alex Valenzuela charted 3 RBI's and crossed home plate twice.

With the win, Citrus snags its 3rd straight victory and improves to 6-11 overall and 2-2 in conference play. The Owls take the field Wednesday in a road game at Antelope Valley. First pitch is at 2:00 PM.
