Diamond Owls Gaining Steam in Pair of Wins

The Citrus Softball squad picked up a pair of wins over the last two days, first beating Grossmont 5-2 on the road Thursday and then topping Santa Barbara Friday in a 5-4 battle. The Owls improved to 8-12 with the wins, and have won 5 of their last 6 games. 

In Thursday's road win over Grossmont, Alexis Acosta hit a pair of doubles and scored a run; Megan Jones drove in 2 runs on a base hit; Katie Kempton picked up a base hit, an RBI and a run; and Becky Winder got the win on the mound, going 6 innings. Danielle Dominguez picked up the save with 2 strikeouts in 1 inning pitched. 

In Friday's home game against Santa Barbara, the Owls outlasted the Vaqueros in a close game, 5-4. Jones went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's and a run; Giavanna Muenz notched 2 base hits and 2 runs; Alexis Acosta and Emily Paredez both hit doubles; and Katie Kempton once again picked up a base hit, an RBI and a run. Danielle Dominguez picked up the win in the circle for the Owls, pitching a complete game and striking out 3 batters. 

Citrus continues to turn its 2019 season around after playing a tough non-conference schedule. The Owls play again Saturday when they hit the 210 East for a matchup against Chaffey. Game time is 12:00 PM.
