Owl Softball Wallops Victor Valley

Citrus Softball played a Western State Conference East game at Victor Valley Thursday, returning home victorious after a 16-0 thumping that ended by way of the mercy rule after 5 innings. The win pushed Citrus over the .500 mark overall and improved its conference record to 7-5. 

Citrus terrorized the Victor Valley pitching staff, going 17 for 30 at the plate as a team for a .567 average. 9 Owls posted at least 1 hit, with 8 players scoring runs, and 8 hitters notching RBI's. 

Megan Jones had a banner day at the plate, going 4 for 5 with a triple, 5 RBI's and 2 runs. She also added a stolen base to her stat line. Emily Paredez put up stellar numbers as well, going 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI's and 4 runs. Giavanna Muenz was 3 for 3 with 2 RBI's and 3 runs. Danielle Dominguez and Melanie Barba also hit  doubles with an Rbi each, and Barba added another base hit and a run to her stats. Alexis Montoya had a solid day at bat, posting a base hit and 2 RBI's. 

Becky Winder picked up the win from the circle, improving to 9-5 in 2019. Dominguez relieved Winder, pitching 3 innings and snatching a save. 

Citrus maintains its #4 spot in the WSC East, with 2 conference games remaining. The Owls take the field Friday in a road game at Pasadena. Game time is 2:30.
