Owls Travel To San Diego City and Take Care of Business

Citrus Women's Basketball stamped a win tonight on the road against San Diego City College, winning the matchup 60-54. The regional win, the 8th on the season for the Owls, marks the 12th consecutive road game of the year for Citrus. Playing .666 ball with nothing but road games is an impressive clip for the Owls, especially since a good portion of their schedule has featured ranked teams.

Team basketball has been the key for the Owls this season, just as 2nd year head coach Linnae Barber Matthews has emphasized from the get go. But several players have been putting up consistently strong numbers ton the year. Jezteni Espinoza, Marisol Chavez-Delgado and Kyannie Brown are all averaging double digit points per game. And Espinoza and Diana Navarro are both averaging over 30% three point shooting on the year. Tonight was no exception, as Espinoza and Chavez-Delgado put up 12 points and 16 points respectively. Espinoza also contributed 6 rebounds, 6 assists and a pair of steals to balance out her stat line, and Chavez-Delgado pulled down 7 rebounds before the final buzzer. Keely Wall had a solid performance, draining 10 points, pulling down 5 boards and harassing the Knight offense with 3 steals. Brown, who pulled down 8 boards in the game, also gave San Diego City some confidence problems on the offensive end with 3 blocked shots.

Citrus still has 4 more road games this month before settling in for a 3 game home stand beginning January 5th. The Owls play next on Thursday as they travel to West LA. Tip off is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
