The Women's Basketball team opened up conference play tonight against the visiting LA Valley Monarchs and fell short 78-50, in what was only the third home game of the season for the host Owls.

Citrus struggled to get in rhythm from the get-go, as LA Valley pulled out to an early lead in the first quarter. The Monarchs snagged the lead from the first bucket and would harness that through the rest of the game, never trailing the Owls in the contest.

Kyannie Brown was perhaps a bright spot for Citrus as she posted a solid 13 points and 9 rebounds on the night. Jezteni Espinoza chipped in 8 points as well as a team-leading 4 assists. But Citrus struggled as a team to capitalize on its opportunities and only shot 38.2% from the field and just 50% from the charity stripe. Contrasted by LA Valley who shot a decent 51% clip on the night, as well as draining 77.4% of its free throws.

The Owls move to 10-9 overall on the season, and 0-1 in conference play. Citrus will take the court and continue conference play next at Victor Valley on Wednesday for a 5:00 PM tipoff.
