Citrus College kept rolling and blew past Compton College to grab an 82-39 victory on the road.

The Owls tie their best start to the season since 2012-13, where Citrus also opened the year 6-1. The Tartars drop to 1-7 with the loss.

Two Owls finished the night in double figures, led by Giselle Garcia-Nunez's 29-point performance (12-for-18). The Tartars did a good job boxing Garcia-Nunez out, only allowing the freshman forward nine boards. Katherine Goostrey followed with 24 points (9-for-17) with a hot hand from three-point range, sinking five of her six shots from the perimeter.

As a team, Citrus shot 59.6-percent from the floor, including 60.0-percent from distance.

The Owls scored nine-straight points to open the contest before Compton could get on the board. Garcia-Nunez made three jumpers during the run to help Citrus set the tone early.

Citrus kept rolling and threatened a 20-point lead just before halftime as Tiffany Hall found Goostrey beyond the arc to send the Owls into the break with a 42-23 upper hand.

The 20-point lead came two minutes into the third off a Goostrey trey, 47-27, and just kept building, turning into a 30-point lead and almost a 40-point lead before the Tartars could break through the scoring drought.

Samantha Villa put the Owls up by 40 with 7:40 left in the fourth and a Goostrey jumper threatened a 50-point lead heading down the stretch, 76-29.

Makayla De Rego sealed the 82-39 victory with a jumper with 20 seconds to go.

The Owls take a little break and resume action in December, heading to Chaffey on Dec. 1 at 5:00 p.m.
