Palm Desert, CA -- For the second event of the 2015 season, the Citrus College Women's Golf program came in second place. On the strength of sophomore's Jamie Lopez and Lexandra So, the Owls bested six other schools to nab the runner-up spot in the 2015 Desert Classic Invite.

Freshman Lexi Tunstad was solid with an 80, while freshman Mackenzy Shafer provided the fourth and final scoring round of the opening day with an 89. On Saturday, Lopez turned it up a notch, knocking two strokes off her first round to post a 72 which was the third best individual round of the day. So stayed consisted with a 73, putting both her and Lopez in a three way tie for second place on the tournament with a combined score of 146. Tunstad meanwhile saw her round jump to two strokes to finish with an 82, for a two day total of 186, just one stroke off a Top 15 performance for the weekend. Sophomore Brittany Thelen gave the Owls the last scoring round of the weekend with 90, knocking six strokes off her previous day's effort.

The second day, Citrus carded a combined 317, giving them a two day total of 633. It was enough to hold off a charging Mt. San Antonio College by eight strokes, but well back of Santa Barbara City College, who ran away with the tournament.

The Owls will be back in action on Monday September 14th when they resume Western State Conference play at the WSC Event hosted by Santa Barbara City College at Santa Barbara Community Golf Course. The first group is set to tee off at 11:00 AM.
