Filmore, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Golf team took one step forward on Monday afternoon at the WSC Event hosted by College of the Canyons. Unfortunately, the Owls also took one step back, as they finally defeated Santa Barbara City College for the first time this season, but also stayed in second place as College of the Canyons assumed the top spot.

Sophomore Lexandra So rebounded from a poor round last week to post a 77 on Monday afternoon at Elkins Ranch Golf Course. So came around at the turn one under par, but finished +6 on the back nine to take second place overall. Sophomore Jamie Lopez was a stroke behind So with a 77, while freshman Lexi Tunstad took a step back finishing outside the Top 10 for the first time this season with a 92. Sophomore Brittany Thelen kept up her solid play with a 93.

As a team, the Owls shot a 340, finishing in second place four strokes once again out of first. This time it was College of the Canyons in the top spot with a 336, while Santa Barbara finished in third, one stroke back of Citrus with a 341.

The Owls will take a break from conference action next weekend as they head up to Morro Bay Golf Course, home of the California Community College Athletic Association State Women's Gold Championships, for the annual North/South invite. The two day tournament, kicks-off on Sunday morning at 9:30 AM.
