Owls Go 2nd and 3rd at 2016 WSC Finals

Filmore and Ventura, CA – The Citrus College Women's Golf team finished out their 2016 regular season on Sunday and Monday at the 2016 WSC Finals. The Owls finished in second on the first day of competition, but finished in third on the second day.

On the first day at Elkins Ranch, scores were higher across the board. Sophomore Lexi Tunstad came into the clubhouse with an 82, which put her in a four-way tie for fifth place individually. Freshman Alexandra Martinez was right on her heels with an 89, while freshman Bruna Prestes carded a respectable 93.

Freshman Lauren Madueno would round out the scoring rounds with a 100, just edging fellow freshman Angela Adams and Grazia Watkins who both had a 102 over the course of 18 holes. As a team, Citrus would post a score of 364 which put them just two strokes in front of a hard charging Bakersfield College team.

On the second day at Buena Ventura, scores were much better among all players. The first day brought in an average round of 92.7, but the second day was nearly 10 strokes less with an average round of 83.9. Tundstad continued her consistent play with a season low of 72, good for fourth individually. Martinez meanwhile finished just outside the Top 10 with her 76, which was also a season best.

Madueno would see an 11 stroke improvement, posting a 89, while Adams and Watkins each came in with 92's, with only one of their rounds counting towards Citrus' final tally. Prestes would have another 93. The Owls' total would be 329 on the day, eight strokes behind Bakersfield College who surged forward with a 321.

The Owls season isn't over yet as they take part in the 2016 Southern California Finals on Monday November 7th and Tuesday November 8th. The first round is set for a 9:00 AM tee-time at Los Serranos Golf Course in Chino Hills.
