Chino Hills, CA - Citrus College sophomore Lexi Tunstad will represent the Citrus College Women's Golf team at the 2016 California Community College Athletic Association State Championships. Tunstad was the only Owl to make it out of the Southern California Regionals where they teamed placed sixth.

Citrus started out the regionals on the South Course at Los Serranos Country Club. Tunstad came into the clubhouse with an 81, which was the eighth lowest round on the tournament on those 18 holes. Freshman Grazia Watkins was the next Owl in with a 95, while freshmen Lauren Madueno and Angela Adams went 103 and 105 respectively. The four rounds combined gave Citrus a 384 on the afternoon, which put them in sixth place 18 strokes back of fifth place College of the Desert.

After a tough opening round overall for Citrus, the Owls rebounded nicely on day two on the North Course. Tunstad fired another 81, while freshman Bruna Prestes would rebound with a 90. Watkins and Adams would record the other two scoring rounds, as both carded 99's to give Citrus a 369 total on the day. Their 369 would actually be three strokes better than College of the Desert on the afternoon, but it wasn't enough to overcome them in the standings.

Tunstad would finish 9th overall out of the 60 golfers. Watkins was the next highest ranked Owl, finishing in 39th. Tunstad will hit the road this coming Sunday and Monday for the 2016 CCCAA State Championships. Sunday's tee-time is set for 9:00 AM at Morro Bay Golf Course.
