Citrus Women's Soccer played host to Antelope Valley College for a Western State Conference South matchup at Citrus Stadium on Tuesday. The Owls beat the Marauders 4-2, continuing their 10 match win streak, and improving to 9-0 in conference play.

The Owls played disciplined ball throughout the first half, pushing the ball upfield on the attack, and limiting the Marauders' access to the Citrus side of the field. The home team wasted very little time getting things going, when Isabel DeLeon scored the first goal of the game in the 5th minute on an assist by Berenice Mancinas. Then, Citrus had a small miscue on the defensive end, allowing the Marauders an open shot right in front of the goal. The shot would find its mark, and the two teams found themselves tied 1-1 after just 32 minutes of play.

DeLeon would strike again right before the half, this time assisted by Amethyst Trang. A Berenice Mancinas goal at 79:00 put the Owls up 3-1. The shot was a rocket off her left foot from the 18 yard mark that found the upper V. AVC would retaliate once more, scoring in the 83rd minute and putting some pressure on the Owls to finish strong. Citrus responded in turn, with DeLeon scoring her 3rd goal of the day unassisted for her 11th season goal. Citrus would play out the remainder of regulation and hang on for the 4-2 win.

The win improves the red hot team to 12-4 overall, and a perfect conference record of 9-0. The Owls play next on Friday at home against Bakersfield. First touch is at 3:00 PM in the stadium.
