Walnut, CA -- Citrus College sophomore Chelsea Fujita-Haffner launched herself into the State conversation this past weekend with her performances in the Fly events at the 2014 Mt. San Antonio College Invitational. Fujita-Haffner had a pair a big races, finishing in the Top 10 in both events, in a meet that featured nearly all of the top swimmers from Southern California.

In the 50 Fly, Fujita-Haffner took home 6th out of 64 racers, posting a time of 28.84. She followed that up later with a 7th place finish out of 31 swimmers in the 100 Fly and a time of 1:06.84. Other top performances by Owl swimmers this weekend came via freshmen Samantha Pena and Lauren Quintero. Pena finished 36th out of 70 swimmers in the 50 Free (34.51), while Quintero was tied for 47th out of 120 swimmers in the 50 Free (28.44). In the relay events, the Owls posted a respectable 17th place finish in the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:56.58.

The Owls will be back out on the deck this coming weekend when they take part in the WSC Meet #1 hosted by Ventura College, where they will go up against Santa Barbara City College, Cuesta College, Los Angeles Pierce College, and the host school Ventura College. The meet is set for a 10:00 AM start on Friday.
