Swim Continues On at LA Pierce

Woodland Hills, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Swim team continued their 2014 season on Friday afternoon at Los Angeles Pierce College. The Owls had their best team effort of the season, as they finished fourth out of the five teams outpointing Ventura College.

The Owls had seven different swimmers earn points for Citrus on Friday. Sophomore Marissa Moreno got the most for the Owls, finishing 6th in the 1000 Free (13:05.46) and 8th in the 100 Fly (1:25.82) for a total of three points. Sophomores Julie Gongwer, Maria Morales, and Samantha Pena all picked up two points for Citrus with their performances in the 200 Free (7th Place | 2:28.56), 100 Breast (7th Place | 1:27.37), and 1000 Free (7th Place | 13:24.79) respectively.

Sophomore Kendra New also earned a pair of points thanks to her 8th place finish in the 100 Breast (1:27.77) and 9th place finish in the 500 Free (6:31.10). Sophomore Mackenzie Shinall and freshman Kimberly Torres rounded out the scoring as they each earned a point with their finish in the 100 Back (8th Place | 1:16.88) and 200 Individual Medley (8th Place | 2:42.06).

The Owls will be back out on the deck this weekend when they participate in the Pasadena Invitational this Friday and Saturday.
