Owls Continue Season at Mt. SAC Invite

Walnut, CA - The Citrus College Women's Swim team continued their 2016 season over the weekend at the 31st Annual Mt. San Antonio College Swimming Invitational. Against the best teams from around Southern California, the Owls faired well, with some promising finishes in individual events.

 Sophomore Cassidy Miller turned in the best individual performance of the day finishing in 10th place in the 50 Breast with a time of 36.34. She would follow that up with another impressive finish in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:19.39, finishing in 18th place overall. The next highest finish after that would be sophomore Katelyn Rivas who took 15th place in the 100 Individual Medley with a time of 1:12.15.

Rivas also had some strong showings in the 50 Free (28.78 | 32nd) and the 50 Fly (31.66 | 20th) where she finished in the top half of a deep field. Freshmen Priscialla Camara and Sabrina Fregoso added to the Owls strong showings in the 50 Free with time of 29.14 (37th Place) and 29.24 (38th Place) respectively.

Freshman Marissa Kasnetsis turned in a trio of performances that landed her in the top half of her field. In the 200 IM Kasnetsis posted a time of 2:35.05 (25th Place), and turned around and posted times of 31.67  (21st Place) in the 50 Fly, and 1:02.66 (34th Place) in the 100 Free. Fregoso turned in the only other top half time in the 200 Free with a time of 2:16.54 (28th Place). 

In the relay events, Camara and Fregoso teamed up with sophomore Delaney Moller and freshman Rebecca Alejo in the 200 Free Relay to post a time of 1:57.29 for a 13th Place finish. It was the best finish of any Owl relay team on the weekend.

The Owls will be back in action this coming Friday when they travel to LA Pierce College for their first WSC Quad Meet of the 2016 season. Citrus will go head to head with the host Brahmas, Allan Hancock College, LA Valley College, and Bakersfield Colleges on the afternoon. The first event is set for a 2:30 PM start.
