Owls Close Out Season on Day 3 of WSC Championships

San Luis Obispo, CA – The Citrus College Women's Swim team closed out their 2016 season on the third day of the 2016 Western State Conference Championships over the weekend. The Owls finished out the weekend long championships, tallying 175 points.

The first final event of the day was the 1650 Free, where sophomore Carly Casillas finished in 14th place (22:49.36). The Owls didn't pick up any points in the 200 Back, but followed that up with three Top 20 finishes in the 100 Free. Freshman Sabrina Fregoso had the highest finish coming in 14th place (1:02.57).

Sophomore Hailey Bickett posted a better time with a 1:02.27, but settled for a 17th place finish overall due to her placement in the finals based on her preliminary time, taking two full seconds off her preliminary time in the finals. Rounding out the finishes for the Owls in the 100 Free was Gabriella Galbraith who came in 18th place with a time of 1:03.37.  

After the first three events, sophomore Cassidy Miller came through for the Owls in the 200 Breast finishing in 9th place with a time of 2:45.75. Freshman Alyssa Mecozzi followed that up with a time of 3:13.79 in the 200 Fly, good for 13th Place. The last event of the weekend was the 400 Free Relay, where Galbraith, Fregoso, sophomore Katelyn Rivas, and freshman Marissa Kasnetsis teamed up to finish in 9th place with a time of 4:16.26.
