Owls Take Fourth at RCC Invite

Riverside, CA - The Citrus College Women's Swim team continued its strong 2017 campaign over the weekend at the Riverside City College Invitational. Against some of the best programs in the area, the Owls finished a respectable fourth out of the seven competing teams, falling just 13 points shy of overtaking third place Palomar College.

Freshman Victoria Pena kicked things off with a 4th place finish in the 1650 Free posting a time of 20:26.47. Freshman Clare Romero followed that up with a 5th place finish in the grueling 400 IM, posting a time of 5:39.99. In the 200 Free Freshman Chloe Barrocas picked up some important points with a 5th place finish and a time of 2:09.30.

In the 200 Back, it was once again freshman Megan Card who made the Owls proud posting a time of 2:32.02, good enough for 4th place. Sophomore Marisa Kasnetsis finished in 4th place in the 200 Fly (2:49.86), while freshman Hunter Olivier was also 4th in the 50 Free (27.13). Card picked up the best finish of the day, claiming 3rd place in the 100 Back (1:09.13), a place matched by Olivier in the 100 Free (58.68). To close things out Kasnetsis brought home a 4th place finish in the 100 Fly (1:11.13), while Pena brought home a 4th place finish in the 500 Free (5:541.61).

The Owls will wrap up their 2017 regular season campaign in two weeks when they participate in the 2017 Western State Conference Swim and Dive Championships Allan Hancock College. The three-day event starts on Thursday April 20th and wraps up on Saturday April 22nd.
