Citrus Grabs Top-10 Finishes

Citrus College saw multiple top-10 finishes at the Western State Conference Meet No. 2 on Saturday.

Julian Nichols had the best finish of the day with a third-place swim in the 100-yard freestyle. He clocked in at 51.56 seconds, less than .3 seconds away from second place. Matty Roebuck finished in 55.56 seconds, while Ian Tauer posted a time of 55.76 seconds.

Nichols also posted a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard free, clocking in at one minute, 58.70 seconds – almost seven seconds off his seed time. Izaiah Salinas finished the event in 2:12.69.

Sey Currie grabbed a top-10 finish in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing in 1:03.70 for eighth place. Amanda Herrera and Sophia Leon came in one right after the other with Herrera finishing in 1:15.83 and Leon touching in 1:17.44.

Jonathan Reyes took sixth overall in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 23:55.26.

Currie also led a pack of Owls in the 50-yard free with a time of 28.93 seconds. Amelia Wolfe wasn't far behind in 30.65 seconds, followed by Herrera (33.85 seconds) and Leon (35.23 seconds).

Tauer clocked in at 25.46 seconds in the 50-yard free, followed by Matteo Velasquez in 26.23 seconds.

Wolfe finished in the top-10 in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:49.56.

The Owls continue the season at the WSC Meet No. 3 on April 1.
