Reyes, Nichols Post Wins at WSC #3

The Citrus College Athletics Department will be fielding a men's swim team for the upcoming 2018 season.

Citrus College continued the season at the Western State Conference Meet No. 3 with two Owls posting wins.

The Owls took third as a team on both the men's and women's sides, with the men finishing with 28 points, just four points behind second place.

Johnathan Reyes kicked the meet off for Citrus with a first-place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle. He clocked in at 23 minutes, 10.73 seconds, beating out the next finisher by almost a full minute.

Julian Nichols won the 100-yard freestyle in 50.67 seconds, while Matty Roebuck grabbed sixth in 54.80 seconds.

Nichols also took second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.19 seconds. Roebuck finished in the top-10, touching the wall in 24.59 seconds.

Izaiah Salinas finished fourth in the 200-yard backstroke, clocking in at 2:26.79.

The Owl 400-yard freestyle relay team of Nichols, Ian Tauer, Roebuck, and Salinas finished runner-up with a time of 3:46.86.

On the women's side, Amelia Wolfe posted a third-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:34.47.

Teghan Miller and Sey Currie took third and fourth, respectively, in the 50-yard free. Miller finished in 27.68 seconds, while Currie followed in 28.33 seconds. Wolfe and Gabby Orozco also posted top-10 finishes in the 50 free, touching the wall in 29.27 and 29.81 seconds, respectively.

Miller also grabbed third in the 100-yard free with a time of 1:01.09. Currie finished in 1:05.19 to take eighth.

Orozco took sixth in the 200-yard breaststroke, posting a time of 3:15.75, while Sabrina Rodriguez followed in 3:37.66.

The Owl 400-yard freestyle relay team of Miller, Orozco, Currie and Wolfe, took second in 4:19.56.

Citrus heads to San Luis Obispo for the WSC Finals at the end of the month, April 21-23.
