The Citrus College Women's Volleyball team extended it's winning streak to 6 matches tonight against the Antelope Valley College Marauders. In a lopsided match, the Owls asserted themselves consistently from the first whistle to the last. The set scores tell the story, as Citrus held the visiting team to just 40 points, 25-15, 25-13, 25-12. The night clearly belonged to the Citrus offense, as the team combined for a .325 hitting percentage. But as any volleyballer knows, good defense and ball control are what creates good offense. The Citrus defense did just that, digging up 47 balls and holding the Marauders to a negative hitting percentage with just 18 kills on the entire match.

Leading the charge once again for the Owls was outside hitter, and key offensive weapon Leah Price. Price has been on fire lately, putting up big numbers in several categories and showing upcoming conference foes that she's a force to be reckoned with. Price chipped in 13 kills for a .379 clip and only 2 errors, as well as 6 digs. Also putting up good numbers was Freshman outside hitter Briana Olvera, who put down 9 kills with only 1 error on 16 attempts, for an astounding hitting percentage of .500. Big serving runs by Amanda Belzl and Owl Libero Natalia Castro further bolstered the Citrus confidence. The Owls finished the night with 8 team aces.

Citrus moves to 10-7 on the year as it gears up for conference play starting in early October. The Owls take the court tomorrow at the Mt. SAC Invitational, where they play a 3 match back-to-back-to-back marathon beginning at 10:00 AM vs College of the Desert.
