Women's Volleyball Hopeful For Regional Championship Bid

Women's Volleyball Hopeful For Regional Championship Bid

The Citrus Women's Volleyball team has its fingers crossed on winning a Southern California Regional Championship bid, which would mark the first year they've qualified for the regional tournament since 2013. The Owls, who are playing some of the best volleyball Citrus has seen in several years, are poised to go far into the tournament bracket, as they've steadily improved throughout the season.

The Fighting Owls, who are coming off of a speed bump in the road last Friday when they fell in a tough 5 set battle versus Victor Valley, have been a threat to everyone they've faced this season. Friday's loss was not enough to knock Citrus out of the #2 conference spot, but it did put Victor Valley at the .500 mark in conference and solidified their place at the #3 rank.

Strong performers in the 5 set loss were Leah Price with 19 kills and 19 digs, Briana Voght with 17 kills and 7 digs, and setter Tiana Gildernew who chipped in a stellar 59 assists, 5 aces and popped up 20 digs.

Citrus, who ends the regular season with an overall record of 18-12 and a conference mark of 5-3, will find out it's seed for the regional tournament this Thursday.
