Citrus Volleyball played back-to-back days this week, due to a rescheduled match played on Tuesday against Canyons. The match was previously scheduled for last week, but the wildfires in the area caused the delay. So the Owls played Canyons at home on Tuesday, and then turned around and took on West LA on Wednesday.

The Owls were swept by Canyons in a lopsided game Tuesday, 10-25, 16-25, 9-25. But the ladies recovered quickly, hosting West LA on Wednesday and dispatching the Wildcats in swift fashion, 25-15, 25-4, 25-20.

The Owls commanded early control of the match with tough serving and solid transition offense. West LA struggled to square away its serve receive and the Owls made them pay dearly, serving a season high 20 aces against the shocked Wildcat lineup. Nia Nix had 5 of those aces, and Aubrey Cumad, Vanessa Warren and Karly Moreno all pitched in 4 each. Nix also recorded a game high 22 kills and Summer Edington put down 13 for the Owls. Setter Vanessa Warren dished out 33 assists in an efficient performance, guiding the offense to a .262 hitting percentage in the match. Libero Aaliyah Robles led the Owls defensively, scooping up 10 digs.

Citrus improves to 8-15 overall and 5-4 in the Western State Conference South. The Owls take the court next on Friday in a conference road match at Antelope Valley. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
